Ian Johnston

I'm Ian — a photographer drawn to people, places, and moments that feel lived-in.

My work lives somewhere between documentation and instinct. I'm less interested in perfect poses and more interested in what happens right before and right after them — the glance, the pause, the breath. Whether I'm shooting portraits, headshots, or something harder to categorize, my goal is always the same: make images that feel honest, natural, and unmistakably human.

I work with actors, creatives, brands, and real people who want photos that don't feel over-produced or over-thought. The best sessions feel more like a conversation than a shoot, and the strongest images usually come from moments that weren't planned.

ian.took.this is simply a record of what I notice — and who I'm lucky enough to photograph along the way.
